ASTRAL GEOMETRIES: PRECESSION AND THE DESIGN OF THE STARS

INTRODUCTION

The Pythagorean conception of the cosmos is certainly one of the most important philosophical foundations of the Stellar Astrology I have been developing over the past few years. “Everything is number”: the Pythagoreans believed that positive whole numbers were the essence of the cosmos — not mere tools, but true archetypes capable of explaining the structure of reality. For the Pythagoreans, geometry was sacred: not merely a technical instrument, but a way of revealing the harmony and divine order of the cosmos. This is precisely why the various systems of astronomical coordinates work so well in astrology. They are founded upon number, and therefore reveal the geometric structure of Heaven, which also lies at the root of everything that occurs on Earth. Rather than being in true opposition to Aristotelian naturalism, all this nevertheless renders incomplete any explanation based exclusively on light as the vehicle of astral action upon the world. The quality of the stellar influence that is transmitted does not depend only on the nature of the individual celestial body, but also — and above all — on the mathematical relationships formed by the stars according to the various coordinate systems. These mathematical relationships are the basis of their combined action upon the world. Unfortunately, ordinary astrology considers only a tiny portion of these relationships — and, moreover, almost entirely ignores the Fixed Stars. For this reason, it is seriously incomplete. In particular, Stellar Astrology offers an ideal field of verification for demonstrating the validity of the Pythagorean conception of the Cosmos, as the reader of this book will be able to see. This volume is devoted precisely to some of these geometries, completely unknown to astrologers and yet fundamental. 3 In this book we shall explore above all the role of the aspects that stars can form through their declination. These are not only parallels and antiparallels, but also the “magical” angular distances that are exact to the minute, or almost exact to the minute. They may be formed either according to the current declination of the stars, or according to the last minimum or maximum declination they reached in the past. This technique has important applications both in mundane astrology and in genethlialogy. In the first part of the book we deal precisely with natal astrology, showing how the most characteristic traits that shaped the destinies of illustrious figures can be traced back to these stellar geometries, duly activated by the right planets. It is important to note that, astrologically, there are no other ways to explain convincingly and unambiguously why Valentino Rossi became a motorcycling champion, Platini a football champion, or Einstein a physicist. These are not abstruse techniques meant for lovers of difficult things, but truly fundamental techniques if astrology is finally to become a serious discipline, rather than mere magazine or drawing-room chatter. This kind of reading of the natal chart is completely different from the conventional one, which is entirely centered on the individual ego, especially from the standpoint of temperament. From our perspective, by contrast, the natal chart — and therefore the native’s destiny — appears above all as a particular earthly manifestation of the potentials of certain stars, or rather of certain stellar combinations. This is especially evident in the case of illustrious, or otherwise “exceptional,” destinies. But in reality it is a perspective capable of explaining all individual destinies. In the second part we present a corresponding series of examples drawn from Mundane Astrology. This type of reading belongs to the effort to restore, as the basis of astrology, that Hermetic Philosophy which sees the Earth — and therefore human beings as well — as a kind of “mirror of Heaven.” 4 In this way, man is seen for what he truly is: a kind of “particle” of the Adam Kadmon, that is, a particular manifestation of some of the potentials of the Universal Man. It is as though the Adam Kadmon contemplated himself in a prismatic mirror that reflects him into a myriad of multicolored facets, each of which corresponds to the transient — and, in a certain sense, illusory — reality of an individual human destiny. The secret of exceptional nativities lies precisely in their ability to intercept, at the highest level — especially through heliacal phases and configurations between planets, and between stars and planets — certain stellar relationships that are already especially powerful and activated in that period.

Enjoy the reading.
